Are Prohormones safe?
Posted on | March 23, 2010 |
I am about to be 20 years old. I am desperate to gain a lot of muscle as quickly as I can. Would it be safe for me to take a prohormone (such as Halotest 25) at my age? And what are the side effects?

I would REALLY suggest waiting till you 21. Maybe even 23-24. Your Natural Testostorone Level at your age is miles ahead of older guys. USE IT TO YOUR ADVANTAGE.
Taking un-natural boosters, and even some natural boosters, will cause you to lose your natural testostorone production MUCH MUCH faster throughtout your life, and cause you many problems in your older life.
Prohoromes metabolize into a steroid after they pass through the liver. That’s why their trying to make them illegal. Some argue that point, users mostly.
Point being, don’t take them yet. Start lifting and lift for at leats 2 years, SEROUIS LIFTING, not just every now and then. Do that before even thinking of taking prohoromones. If you would be against steroids, dont take them because thats pretty much what they are.
Side effects include, but not limited to:
Shutting down natural testosterone production completely
Severe liver damage
Gynocamastia (man boobs)
Night sweats
Trouble sleeping
acne
water retention
mood swings (even suicidal thoughts in some)
and of course muscular hypertrophy (thats a good one if you dont know)
Message me if you need any further advice

"Anabolics" by Llewellyn is a good book to read if you want to educate yourself on the possible side effects, as well as what pro-hormones are right for you.
Overall, if you have the money I would consult an endocrinologist. They can help you identify what substances will do the most good for your goals, with minimal risk of HPTA suppression.
One thing to be aware of is that most of the pro-hormones out there are methylated versions of steroids, meaning they are liver toxic. You’ll need a clean diet to protect your lipid profile, as well as a plan for post-cycle therapy as well.
In terms of products currently on the market, I would start with an aromatase inhibitor coupled with DHEA before you move on to some of the more potent prohormones out there. Doing a mild cycle like this first will help you judge what side effects (acne, baldness, etc.) you are especially prone to, if any.
