Can anyone recommend a good cream for really bad ezcema on the hands?

My hands are so dry, and chapped and itchy like hell. The Dr keeps saying just to use E45 but it just slicks on like oil. I want something thick to fill in the cracks. Help!
I’ve tried emollient and steriod creams in the past but they stink - I just want somethign a bit more work friendly!
I’m based in the UK so plesae only suggest things available over here, although I know in the US they have some amazing potions

I suffer from psoriasis on my hands & feet (not the same but similar). I was told by my dermatologist not use soap (drying effect) so I was prescribed dermol its antimicrobial for dry & pruritic (itchy) skin emollient for washing (so use it all over now) & diprobase emolient for moisturizing dry skin.I know the other answerer said he was allergic but I’m not everyone is different so always try things for yourself. My skin was really terrible (cracks splits peeling soreness) now it’s wonderful I know it could break out again which it does from tme to time (no cure for mine) but I know I can make it better again.you could ask your DR. if you can have it on perscription.if not it is available over the pharmacy counter. Diprobase 500g-£11.59p 50g-£2.29p Dermol500_500g£11.59p 100g £5. Hope it helps.Good luck .

Try extra emollient night cream by Mary Kay. It works wonders on mine. You can get it in the UK.

I buy a cortizone cream from the states which has moisturisers in it too. It is readily available on ebay and is called cortizone 10+. It goes on just like a moisturiser but does help with the inflammation.

there is no single cure-all for this sort of problem, so here is a list of possible remedies - all natural, and all good for your skin.
Evening Primrose Oil - easiest to buy capsules from Holland & Barrett or Boots, or any good health store - Likewise, Calendula oil or cream - Likewise Aloe Vera.
Be cautious with essential oils like tea tree oil - while that is great for burns or infected cuts, it is liable to sting on very dry skin - you can add a few drops to any of the above natural remedies, if you want to sort out any skin infections or open wounds.

Hi, I am sorry to hear that you are suffering badly with eczema. I have it too butr not to an extent as you do. However after a really bad flare up a couple of years ago I asked my doctor to refer me to the Dermatology department of a nearby hospital. If you can, ask to be referred to a teaching or specialist hospital.
The problem with eczema on the hands is they are so mobile and flexible, if the skin hardens it cracks as you well know. I have been prescribed Elocon for severe flare ups there is also various strengths of Betnovate than can be used. These are heavy duty Steroid creams. Used sparingly side by side with a good moisturiser these should help. Unfortunately it does take time. I use Doublebase as a body moisturiser, I have also started using Aveeno recently which is good. None of the above creams have a particularly strong smell..It is also a good idea to try different moisturisers as it is possible to be allergic to them! As I was with Diprobase before I was changed to Doublebase.
See you doc, ask for a referral.. and I hope things get better for you. Best of Luck
