chemical nomenclature?

what does andro and androsta mean?
i see it in anabolic steroids and prohormone names but what does it mean?

    andros is "man" in Greek. So an androsteroid is a male hormone. Anabolic means metabolic in the sense of building up something. The opposite is catabolic. Progesterone is a female hormone, from "gest" for gestation, meaning, "Haw foo, baby! Let’s get it on!"
