Does anyone have any tips on how to quit smoking without nicotine replacement?
Posted on | July 29, 2010 |
Ok Im 15 and I smoked about a pack a day and Im trying to stop but after a few hours I start thinking that I have to have a cigarette and it drives me crazy and I really really really want to stop because it increases the risk of blood clots and I’m on HRT (estrogen and anti-androgens) because I’m a male-to-female transsexual and that also raises my risks of blood clots and I don’t want to die from a blood clot…
plz help… I cant afford nicotine replacement until next month.

those desires to smoke are called cravings.. people in support groups have some tools to deal with them.. one of my favorites is known as the 5d’s
Distract (do something else) for instance its hard to smoke doing dishes
Delay (i don’t need one right now).. continued delays = a quit!!
Discuss you did that by asking the question, people in support groups do it in meetings or e-mails
Drink Water, it helps reduce cravings, and flushes toxins
Deep breathe, most smokers only breathe deeply when inhaling!!
the good news is that i now have been quit for over 5 years.. i quit trying to quit alone, and joined a support group.. i attend nicotine anonymous meetings both locally and on line.. on line voice meetings are he as close as your computer, and you can attend while still smoking, before actually attempting a quit.. however you decide to quit good luck, there is simply no wrong way to quit!!

If you really wan to quit you an do it. Witout it u have to be determined nd be serious. If you havent already get rid of your cigarttes. Try to avoid stores that sell cigarettes. You’ve already done good by realizing you nee to stop. But that different from actually stopping.

Quit on a Monday, replace your oral fixation with gum or candy, and don’t go out to smoke with your friends even though you say you won’t smoke. It also helps to change up your daily routine a bit so your mind will be confused and won’t trigger your mental smoking reminders.

Just your will.
My husband smoked 15 cigarettes per day for almost 40 years. In 2005 at the airport he was saying good bye to our daughter who was going to study abroad and he said: "I promise, this is my last cigarette". He stopped smoking and all his friends ask how could he do it.
