Does estrogen therapy cause cancer?

Posted on | February 2, 2010 |

Estrogen is given out freely by doctors to help menopausal women control systems, including hot flashes.
Elizabeth Edwards is being treated with anti-estrogen drugs because her cancer has spread. Does anyone on YA have any experience with this? I was warned by an optician, of all things, not to take estrogen, because his wife did & developed cancer 6 months later.
Only serious answers please.

This article gives a good, brief overview in a scientific mode., but is 7 years old.
Summary: Yes, estrogen is a carcinogen. Problem is, humans produce estrogen naturally so we don’t exactly know what is naturally induced and what is estrogen induced (as a whole). There are other, not-well-understood factors or co-factors involved.
I suspect estrogen THERAPY is a bigger problem than we would like to admit due to potential huge litigation factors.
Bottom line: Avoid it unless ***absolutely*** necessary (not for hot flashes!!!!).
    Hope this helps.

It is a know fact that women with cancer can not have estrogen added as this is very dangerous and makes it grow. It is PROGESTERONE that needs to be added and in heaps of studies has shrunk the cancer cells. I would agree with you friend about his wife as this has been proven if you are inclined to have cancer it will just make it worse. As with the movie star Suzanne somers, she do had cancer and was given the wrong treatment by doctors, but then used Bio Identical hormones( progesterone cream and is now cancer free.
Please refer to this On the website.

He has Many Books that have sold millions world wide. books about ( what the doctors don’t tell you about your hormones and ones on cancers.
