Prohormones

for MTFS what is the generic prices for anti-androgens(anti-testosterone?) and estrogen pills?

Posted on | February 21, 2010 |

disclaimer: I am *not* trying to use pills or whatever illegally

My mom and I are wondering how much it would probably cost if an endocrinologist was to give me a certain dosage of pills.

I am *not* asking the dosage, but what is the general prices mtf transgendered people get for taking both the antiandrogen and the estrogen?

cuz my mom was saying to me "You’re not going to afford it! It’s gonna be expensive!" but I want to find out if it’s true. and I looked at the Kerr Drug prices and I didn’t know because there were different types of dosages and quantity of tablets and stuff..

Hormone replacement therapy does not have to be expensive.

I can’t help you with estrogen pills (I did patches and injectibles), but I hear both Costco and Walmart offer certain estrogen pills on their $4 program.

In the US Spironolactone is the anti-androgen of choice. Depending on your dosage Spiro can run $50-100/month.

Dosages are totally up to your doctor and are adjusted depending on the results of regular lab work. That’s the part that’s expensive: Doctor visits and lab work. Without insurance a doctor visit (with lab work) can run $500.

!!! I highly suggest you join an online support forum such as:

You can learn lots and make many friends there. And yes they have a lot of teens and college age kids there.
