Posted on | September 30, 2009 |

My son was born extremely premature at 23wks. Weighed 470grams at birth. Many complications, has had 29 operations so far. Still on oxygen, needs glasses and hearing aids. Nil oraly, feeds via peg. Fed nutrini at the moment. Current weight is 7.2ks and 67cms tall. Doctor now wants to give him growth hormone shots. I’m not too keen. What would you do?

hi there is no explaning on what it does for your family stressfully, mentaly but as a single mother of 2 kids, 2.5 &3.5, you would do what your instinct would tell you. A little help might just be what u need, weather it close family, friends, or carers me myself i would stick it out i wouldn’t be able to walk away.Your family is what makes u stronger. My 2.5yr old daughter suffers really really bad from atopic execma, which gets to the point they sedate her in hospital because it gets that bad she scratches until she bleeds and it just flesh from head to toe? I suffer from depression, due to a strangleuation, but not matter how much i think i cant take it anymore, she’s all mine and no one can ever take that away from you. i feel for you and i’m sorry that your little is sick, i would try and do everything possible to help in that situation and go on your instints for him, and your family.

you should discuss the risk vs benefits with the Dr, including all side effects. Get a second opinion and ask the same questions.
