How can I gain muscle weight for football?

Posted on | January 31, 2010 |

I am 16, weigh 160 lbs., and 6 feet tall I lift 3 days a week and have a protein shake after each workout. I eat five meals a day (some are smaller). I have had some progress but if I don’t eat at least five meals a day my weight will drop. How can I gain weight and keep it? Any further nutrition or workout suggestions?

I use to play football in college. My conditioning coach told me the best way to build muscle was to up my protein intake and decrease all excess calories especially from sugar, alcohol, even stuff like energy drinks that were full of sugar. The coaches had us put whey protein powder is almost everything from oatmeal to shakes and yogurt. Dude, I did not enjoy eating that stuff, but it got the job done!!!! I was able to lose weight and build muscle rather quickly. When I graduated I was not able to keep up my weight training and gained a lot of weight. But, my goal is to get back to my college physique, but I don’t want to do it the unhealthy way. I am following a program called Packing On the Muscle. I am looking forward to my results, if you want me to give you regular updates on my status I certainly will! Good Luck man, and hang in there!!!

on your workout days u should have a protien shake before and after your workout. Then on your non workout days have a protien shake on top of your meals that u eat. If u really want to gain some muscle weight then i’d suggest using creatine. It will add some weight and give u alot more strenght.
