Posted on | June 29, 2010 |
Im a male 5′7” and about 120 lbs. I go to the gym about three times a week and have been eating foods lately with alot of carbs and protein. Im seeing very little to no improvement in my weight gain and i dont understand why. Does anybody know how I can improve? Im looking to gain about twenty pounds.

I used to think I was eating a lot, but the truth is that my metabolism said I wasn’t. You need to increase the portions of whatever you are eating right now. If you eat 1 cup of oatmeal, then eat 1 1/2 cups of oatmeal, etc.
Make sure your trip to the gym is quality over quantity. I spend no more than 2 1/2 hours per week at the gym. I only do deadlift, squat, and bench press. They are KING when it comes to building mass.
You sound like a hardgainer just like me. It used to be impossible for me to gain any weight because I didn’t know what to do!

hit the gym hard and lift weight for about 1 and a half to 2 hours a day and take sunday off. take a protein drink 5-15 minutes after ur workout and take about 40-50g. if u are working out alot u wanna take 1 gram of protein per body weight. so 120g of protein aday. get some protein from turkey, tuna, salmon, nuts, and chicken.

Drink protein before the gym like muscle milk or something and try eating a lot of red meat and carbs.

Eat chicken and protein rich foods, bigger plates too, it sounds like me, you may have a very fast metabolism, I am about your height and exactly 121lbs and it has taken me 3 months to gain 3lbs. The good thing is they are 3lbs of muscle weight and I have improved my strength about 40% since I began working out.
My advise is stay as natural as possible and avoid any steroids or "quick" muscle gainers that may harm you in other ways or not work at all. Patience is a virtue.

depends on how you eat what you eat and when you eat.. and besides maybe your workout schedule is not doing good for you…
depending on your bodyweight you should eat about 120 grams of protein and 200 grams of carbs daily… do not forget your vitamins and oils
and your workout should be a split pyramid routine.. get a lot of sleep and rest properly…
wish u good luck..
