How long does it takes for steroids to get out of a child’s system?

My grandaughter was recently given a steriod treatment fora breathing promblem. Now her blood sugar is high. Don’t steriods make your blood sugar high? How long before the steriods are out of her system. We are worried about junvile daibetes because diabetes runs in the family. We are hoping the high blood sugar is due to the steriod treatment. She is only 2 and we hate the thought of her possibly having junvile daibetes.

Steroids can make a person temporarily insulin resistant, but the effect is transient. They do not cause permanent diabetes.

well when did she get the treatment. i had a shot of some stuff for my asthma and made my blood sugar levels a but vrazy for about 48 hours after.
