I'm almost 16 and am only 5'2" - 5'3". Could there be a problem with my growth hormones?

It’s just the way you grow. Tons of people your age are much shorter. Don’t worry about it, seriously. It’s just the way that you were born.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with you. It could be just genes. If your parents are short, you’re most likely to be short as well. But you have to stay active, and eat the right foods. 16.. I don’t know, it’s a POSSIBILITY that it may be too late. But the greatest out of all exercises is swimming.

My mother-in-law is 5′3"…how tall are your parents? Your grandparents? I don’t think there is anything wrong with you but if you’re truly worried, talk to your doctor.

    are you male or female?
if you’re male, you’ve probably got another growth spurt coming, if you’re female, you’re actually not that much shorter than the average, which is 5′4"..

everyone does not grow to be tall. It all depends on your genes I guess. My mom is 4′8" and I am 6 feet tall 18 years old.

Are you a male or a female?

If you are a female, not, that’s normal.

If you are a male, it is normal too. Are your parents short? Are you Asian…I am 5′ 4" and some men I know are shorter than me and nothing is wrong with them. They are just short!

    You may be short forever.
    Hopefully you’ll grow another inch
You’ve seen short adults haven’t you?

If you really wanna try, take calcium supplements and stretching exercises..
Exercising and doing sports, getting enough sleep helps you grow

Not at all. Give yourself some time cause you’re still a lil young. There are bone lengthening procedures doctors can do but it can be very painful.

You should mention whether or not you’re a boy or girl. That is probably relatively normal for a chick, but short for a guy. If you are a guy though then you could grow for another ten years so I wouldn’t get overly concerned yet. You might be due for a huge spurt any time.

5′3.7" is actually average height for women in the US… you’re not short. you may still grow, depending on how tall your parents are, but it’s not likely considering your age. there’s nothing wrong with your growth hormones. 5′2"-5′3" is not short- remember average means half the population is at that height or BELOW.

    of course… i was 5′3" when i graduated high school and am 5′5" now (i’m 20).

I was the tallest in my class as a kid. In fifth grade I hit 5′2" and stopped growing =D. I’m now 20 and same height and shoe sizes as I was 10 years ago. Some people just grow differently.

everyone grows at their own rate. I am 13 and 5′5-6" and I am still getting taller. if your parents and grandparents are short then you will be too. there really isn’t anything you can do, but there isn’t anything wrong with being short.

You can’t really compare your height with your friends. Is your mom or dad short? Is it a family thing? I’m 14 almost 15 and I’m 5′3". But my moms short too so I know it’s genetic. There’s probably nothing wrong with, could just be your genetic make up. If that’s the case you can’t do anything about it. If you think it’s a health thing ask your doctor.

i’m 16 and 4′10”. i went to a special growth doctor and they monitored my growth for a while and made me eat a lot so i would grow if i gained weight (this stared a few years ago). and now i’ve probably stopped growing but the doctor said it’s fine. it is mostly genetics for why i’m so short, so that could be the case with you. if you’re really concerned, talk to your doctor but i really don’t think anything is wrong. you’re probably pretty much done growing but i don’t mind being this short.

there is this medicine/shot that my doctor said i could get (this was a few years ago) and the shot would make you grow really quickly. but the doctor said there were a lot of side effects like uneven leg bones (which would mean you would be uneven) or your body could be disproportionate to your head, etc. So i didn’t do the shot because being short isn’t that much of a hassle and i’d rather be short than have weird side effects.

so i would say to ask your doctor. but i really think you’re going to be fine :)

If you were 4′6 or shorter you could be deficient in HGH so clearly you are not deficient in HGH.

Females usually stop growing at 15 and males at 18.

Plenty of protein, calcium and zinc will ensure normal growth and a deficiency can stunt it.

Unfortunately you cannot speed up the growing process beyond normal.
