Steriod shots ? Whats it ?

Why is it given before delivery (esp pre-term delivery ) ? I am 32 wks pregnant, with delivery being expected any moment due to certain complications in the uterus
Are steriod shots painful ? How is it given? Is it any tablet or fluid or what ?

They are given in your hip and they are given to help speed up the development of the baby’s lungs. I was given those shots because i went into labor at 33 weeks then again at 35 weeks (given those shots both times). However they could not stop my labor the second time (35 weeks) and i had my son. He was healthy and had no problems with breathing or anything like that.
They don’t hurt, it is just a shot. Good luck and Congrats
