What are some ways for naturally thin people to gain weight?
Posted on | August 31, 2009 |
I am 12 years old, almost 13, and I am 5′4” or 5′5” (somewhere in that area) and I weigh only 95 pounds. I am tired of being called anorexic and stuff like that, and I really want to fill out so I can get a fuller figure.
Does anyone know some ways for me to gain weight? I mean, I eat A LOT but never gain weight unless my height increases! What are some really fattening foods that can even help very thin people like me to gain weight?

The big problem in this country is being overweight or obese, not being too thin, but of course, this is also a problem for many. To gain weight, you must take in more calories than you consume each day, but don’t just fill up on junk food, or you will gain most of the weight in fat.
The first step is figuring out how many calories you burn each day. You can do this by first figuring out your BMR, or basal metabolism rate. Then, you have to multiply it by a factor, using the Harris Benedict equation, which takes into consideration your activity level. Click on the first link below to make these calculations.
Keep a food diary which details all you eat each day. Use a calorie counter to determine the number of calories you consume for all foods. Begin eating more calories than you have been, but make sure you eat good nutritious food, not empty-calorie foods, like fried fast foods, donuts, cakes, cookies and candy.
Here are some tips to gain weight by eating healthy foods. Add cheese, nuts and dressings with olive or canola oiil to salads. Eat starchy foods like potatoes and corn more often. Eat dried fruits and fruit juices—healthy, yet full of good calories. Eat dark chocolate, which is loaded with anti-oxidants and calories, and is healthier than regular chocolate. Add peanut butter to vegetables like celery; eating peanut butter on whole wheat will supply lots of protein and healthy calories. Add powdered milk to sauces and soups. Eat plenty of whole grains. Try whole wheat spaghetti instead of regular spaghetti.
Don’t forget to exercise too. Resistance exercises like push-ups, pull-ups and weight lifting will increase your body mass.
Please don’t try to gain weight by eating "really fattening foods," as you say you are about to do. These kinds of foods will add weight all right, but you don’t want to become overweight, or you will soon join the ever-increasing numbers of people who are looking to lose weight.
All my best to you in your efforts to attain a more healthy weight. Set yourself a weight goal and try not to exceed it. It is much easier to gain weight than lose it, so don’t overdo your efforts.

I give you one tip
EATING the right foods..eat more protein-based food stuff such as beef and chicken. Drink more milk for it is a rich source of protein. Balance your meals with vegetables and nuts as well. Eat 5 or 6 small meals rather than 3 big meals to balance the calorie intake….hope it will help you
