Would this be overtraining?
Posted on | July 23, 2010 |
This summer I’m not working, I’m 6′1" and 195 pounds. I want to get bigger and lose body fat during the summer. I eat a lot of food and sleep plenty but I dont take supplements or any kind of steroid or prohormone. If I did a 3 day on 1 or 2 day off program that went like this,
day 1: legs (AM), Back(PM), Cardio (PM)
day 2: chest(AM), Shoulders (PM), Cardio (PM)
day 3: Abs(AM), Arms(PM), Cardio (PM)
would this be overtraining if I took a day or two off inbetween and do u think 1 day would be enough?

If you feel too tired to work out, you sleep more than usual, your resting heart rate is higher, and you feel crummy all the time, you could be overtraining. Just a suggestion here about your workout: I find doing total body workouts three times a week burns more fat and produces more muscle building hormones. Just keep the workouts at an hour or less. On the days in between, you could do sprint intervals for 20 minutes because those burn a lot of fat and don’t waste muscle, they help you gain leg muscle. Basically, sprint for a minute, jog for a minute, until twenty minutes have passed. This will save you time and still give you good results, but if you don’t want to try this you don’t have to. Your workout looks good, but if you feel any of the above symptoms of overtraining, you might want to back off a bit.
Good luck!
